From Wireframe to Handoff: A Process Engineers Will Thank You For

By PixelForge Studio · 2026-08-02 · 7 min read

A beautiful screen with no states is half a design. Engineers need empty, loading, error, success, and permission states; long-text and no-data variants; and what happens at 320px and 1920px — before they write a line of code.

Annotate behaviour, not just visuals: what triggers, what animates, what validates, what analytics event fires. Link each screen to the user story and acceptance criteria so questions resolve in the file, not in meetings.

Use components and tokens in your handoff, never detached one-offs. Name layers semantically, keep auto-layout honest, and redline only what tokens cannot express.

Close the loop with a design QA pass on the staging build. A 30-minute review before release is cheaper than a redesign ticket after it — and it builds the trust that makes the next project smoother.
